CompTIA: Investment in Skills Key for Workforce Resilience

Creating a workforce that is productive, resilient and technology-savvy requires an ongoing commitment to and investment in skills-building and expansion. That key message was delivered at the Innovation 2025 conference by a representative of CompTIA. “The UK workforce must adapt to the challenges of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and other technological innovations to remain competitive and secure,” said Luke Barton, senior manager. CompTIA, during his Innovation 20254 session. Barton spoke on “Empowering the UK Workforce: Building Essential Skills for a Secure and AI-Driven Future.” Innovation 2025 brings together government leaders from across the globe who are responsible for the transformation and acceleration of their public sector organisations and services. The conference is co-hosted by the UK Government, UK Civil Service and the Cabinet Office.

84 Percent of Workers Want DEI Efforts to Grow, Not Reduce

As political debates shape corporate decision-making, employees are making clear that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts should not be scaled back. A new Impact of DEI Rollbacks survey from MyPerfectResume, a leading resource for resume and career advice, finds that 84% of employees want their companies to expand DEI initiatives, not reduce them. However, growing concerns over political influence and corporate hesitation threaten to slow progress. The Impact of DEI Rollbacks survey, which gathered responses from over 1,000 U.S. employees, found that 73% believe President Trump’s rhetoric and policies have influenced their company’s DEI approach and 69% fear that if high-profile companies cut back, others will follow. Despite this uncertainty, employees overwhelmingly support workplace DEI initiatives and see them as essential to morale, retention, and company culture

Nova Scotia’s Growth Drives Construction Job Demands

Construction activity in Nova Scotia recorded another strong year in 2024, with both the residential and non-residential sectors reporting gains in activity over the previous year. The former was elevated by gains in new-housing and renovation activity, while the latter saw strong levels of activity in both engineering construction and in the construction of industrial, commercial, and institutional buildings. BuildForce Canada released its 2025–2034 Construction and Maintenance Looking Forward report for Nova Scotia today. The forecast calls for overall construction growth by 2034, with gains limited to the residential sector. Residential construction investment levels are projected to grow into 2025 and are sustained into 2027 before increasing steadily to the end of the decade. Growth is driven initially by activity the new housing component, but as investment in this component declines in latter years of the outlook, residential renovations become the principal driver of residential construction investment in the province. By 2034, residential employment should be 21% higher than 2024 levels, with significant gains anticipated in employment relating to residential renovations and maintenance activities.
