University of Phoenix White Paper on K-12 Parent Engagement
University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies has released a new white paper, “Discovering School Memories Positive Relationship with Parents’ Engagement,” by Roxanne Jordan, Ed.D., MBA, a member of the University’s Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR). In the paper, Jordan presents a quantitative correlational study aimed at exploring the relationship between school memories and parents’ involvement in their children’s education and future planning. “Parents have great influence over their children’s decisions about future college and career plans. I wanted to conduct this study to discover if a relationship exists between parents’ own school memories and engagement in their children’s education,” Jordan states. “The connection is there, and it highlights that parents might not be able to meet their children’s needs in the current K-12 environment. Partnership between parents and schools remains vital to effective parental engagement that contributes to student success.”
UKG Talk Improves Ops & Unity at Amusement Parks
UKG, a leading provider of HR, payroll, workforce management, and culture solutions, announced that Wahooz Family Fun Zone, a year-round destination for family entertainment, and Roaring Springs Waterpark, the largest outdoor waterpark in the Northwestern U.S., are leveraging UKG technology — including the UKG Talk communications platform — to create a more productive workplace culture to help drive business success. Both Wahooz and Roaring Springs employ predominantly Gen Z workers, with teenagers comprising 90% of the frontline staff. One of the biggest challenges for park management was finding a way to communicate instantly and effectively with employees who are spread out across the parks, especially during the busy summer season. The park’s operators say the UKG Talk platform has been instrumental in allowing them to easily connect with staff — and allowing staff to interact with each other — right from their phones.
Resume.org, the leading platform for building a resume, has released new findings from a March 2025 survey assessing the impact of Trump’s tariffs on businesses that import goods and raw materials. The survey of 729 U.S. business leaders reveals that 30% of companies say the tariffs put them at risk of going under, with many adjusting hiring plans, implementing layoffs, and raising prices to stay afloat.
Cisco and University of Ottawa Equip Engineering Students with Job-Ready IT and Cybersecurity Skills
Cisco, a worldwide leader in networking and security, and the University of Ottawa have announced a partnership to better prepare students for careers in the technology industry. Funded by Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program, Cisco will integrate industry-recognized Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification into the university’s Computer and Software Engineering curriculum. The CCNA certification validates a broad range of fundamentals for all IT careers — from networking technologies, to security, to software development — proving that the holder has the skills businesses want and candidates need to meet market demands. “Cultivating a strong talent pool is critical for Canada’s future – especially as we strive to maintain a leadership position in key areas such as cybersecurity and AI,” said Wayne Cuervo, Director, Cisco Canada’s Digital Impact Office. “This partnership helps ensure students start their career on the right foot, while addressing the broader digital skills gap we face in Canada.”
