Bayer: Changes To The U.S. Country Leadership Team Announced

Changes to the U.S. Country Leadership Team have been made, according to Bayer, one of the nation’s top life sciences firms. As of July 1, Dave Tomasi will lead Consumer Health North America (CH NA). Dave joined Bayer in 2019 and has held leadership positions in the Consumer Health division, most recently directing strategy and operations across all functions, including portfolio management, retail strategy integration, and commercial operations. Dave has been serving as the Chief Commercial Officer for CH NA.

Over the past four years, Dave has been a significant player in the recovery of the CH NA business, advancing operational efficiency, financial performance, innovation, and bolstering the North American retail sector. Dave is a leader with extensive expertise creating high-performing groups, creating growth strategies, and creating market plans that are incredibly effective and produce exceptional outcomes. Dave even assisted in leading CH NA to become the €2.5 billion company it is now.

Dave is a prominent figure at Bayer. He holds a West Point degree, is a dedicated U.S. Army veteran, and serves veterans in his capacity as executive sponsor of the BRAVE Business Resource Group. Additionally, he is on the boards of the Bayer Fund, the company’s charitable organization in the United States, and BAYPAC, the Employee Political Action Committee of Bayer. Dave is a member of the Consumer Health Products Association’s Executive Board as well.

Prior to joining Bayer, Dave worked at Procter & Gamble for more than 20 years in a variety of leadership positions in the areas of consumer goods, personal care products, and retailer alliances.

Dave takes over for Patrick Lockwood-Taylor, who is leaving Bayer to become the CEO of a health and wellness company. Patrick is the President of Bayer in the United States and the President of Consumer Health North America. He will leave Bayer on June 29.

In the future, the Bayer U.S. President will be announced.

Heiko Schipper, President, Consumer Health Division and Member, Bayer Board of Management, said, “With the appointment of Dave Tomasi as Consumer Health President NA, we have a seasoned leader with strong knowledge of our industry and customers. I’m excited to watch our North American Consumer Health business grow and meet consumer demand for innovation. We want to congratulate Patrick for his exceptional leadership in Consumer Health as well as in his role as the company’s president in the United States and wish him the best of luck as he seizes this new opportunity and keeps up the vital work of promoting health and wellbeing.”

With effect from July 1, Guru Ramamurthy has been named Bayer’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), filling a vacancy on the U.S. Country Leadership Team. Having worked for Bayer for 22 years, Guru most recently held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Asklepios Biopharmaceuticals Inc. (AskBio), a fully-owned, independently-operating Bayer subsidiary. Guru will continue to hold the position of CFO for AskBio through the end of the year. He has held a number of financial leadership positions at Bayer, including those of Global Finance Lead for Hematology & Cardiology, Head of Corporate Controlling for Bayer Pharmaceuticals, CFO of CH NA, and CFO Bayer Medical Care, among others.

As Vice President and Head, North America Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Bayer, Asha Hope has recently joined the organization. Hope is charged with implementing diversity, equality, and inclusion (DE&I) into Bayer’s business operations in her new position on the U.S. Country Leadership Team. Additionally, she works to make sure Bayer cultivates, maintains, and attracts talent, supports an inclusive workplace, and monitors and reports on success in the DE&I key areas. Hope has had DE&I leadership positions in the past at a number of major businesses in the sector, most notably at DoorDash where she was the Global Head of DE&I. Prior to that, she held executive positions at Macy’s, Coca-Cola, and Amazon as Global Head of DE&I for the International Consumer Business.

“Our talented and seasoned leaders on the U.S. Country leadership team will continue to guide our U.S. business and drive innovation, bringing experience and insights to the team that will make our business stronger and enable us to continue supporting our customers, patients, consumers, and growers while accelerating growth for Bayer,” said Wolfgang Nickl, CFO and member of the Bayer Board of Management.
